Malaysia’s domestic tourism surged to RM107.2 billion in 2024, with the fourth quarter alone contributing RM29.0 billion, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin highlighted that 260.1 million domestic visitors were recorded throughout the year, reflecting a 21.7% increase compared to 2023. Domestic tourism expenditure also saw 26.3% growth year-on-year.
The tourism sector’s expansion was evident across related industries:
