The suspension of train services to Shimla has adversely impacted the region’s tourism industry as tourists flock to the hills for summer. Though the distance from Shimla to Taradevi railway station (the nearest alternative) is only 11km, the absence of a steady train service is causing concern. The Shimla Hotel and Tourism Stakeholders Association has requested the transport department to initiate bus services from Taradevi to accommodate the influx of tourists. The Association is disappointed with the railway authorities for not having made any permanent arrangements even after a year, as train services get disrupted after just two spells of rain.
