Yemen’s Supreme Political Council has condemned the US and UK’s recent military actions targeting Yemeni sites, labeling them acts of aggression and a violation of international law and sovereignty. The Council asserts that these strikes, carried out under the guise of protecting maritime navigation, are in reality aimed at safeguarding Israel and hindering Yemen’s solidarity with Palestine amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
According to the Council, the attacks will not deter Yemen from its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause. They are determined to continue targeting Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea until the siege of Gaza is lifted and humanitarian aid is allowed to enter freely. They view their actions as a legitimate form of self-defense and solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people.
The Council emphasized that Yemen is committed to ensuring the safety of international navigation for all ships, except those linked to Israel. They accused the US and UK of escalating tensions in the region and contributing to instability by supporting Israeli aggression. They further state that the attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure, directly contradicting claims of precision strikes and maritime security.
They are calling upon the international community, including the UN Security Council, to condemn the US and UK actions and to uphold international law and the sovereignty of Yemen. The Council also accused the United States and the United Kingdom of ignoring diplomatic solutions and pursuing a path of military confrontation, which they believe only serves to further destabilize the region. They warned that further military actions will be met with a strong and appropriate response, underscoring Yemen’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and support the Palestinian people.
