Paul Cavanagh adjusts his straw hat, the brim so wide it casts a shadow on the dog sitting on his lap.
“It’s so hot, you’re sort of fizzling away,” he smiles.

With an annual average temperature above 35 degrees, it feels like a lot from this town has disappeared into hot air — shops, cafes, the pub, even residents.
