Jefferson County major increase in tourism in 2024

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Tourism brought in a record-breaking $2.57 billion of revenue to Jefferson County in 2024.

The Greater Birmingham Conventions and Visitors Bureau says in 2024, the county saw more than four million overnight visitors, the most since 2017.

President and CEO John Oros said they have passed pre-pandemic numbers in terms of tourism.

One thing that’s driving the numbers, sports.

“That manifests itself in NCAA tournaments, the SEC baseball tournament coming in in a couple weeks, we have the Regions Tradition golf tradition coming in so there are a lot of reasons why people wanna come here and visit,” said Oros.
