The broadcaster and journalist said he always preferred to use the experts when booking a trip, adding the value of travel agents was further enhanced during the Covid pandemic when travel rules often changed quickly.
Now, Holmes, who has been awarded an OBE, is partnering with Not Just Travel and sister company The Travel Franchise to promote the advantages of booking with their personal travel consultants and will be appearing at the company’s upcoming conferences and international events.
He will also draw on his own travel experience, having presented BBC 1’s Holiday Show, when he presents Not Just Travel’s The Travel Podcast with brand ambassador and TV presenter Hayley Sparkes.
Holmes said: “What I love the most about Not Just Travel and The Travel Franchise is the passion everybody has – not just for travel, but for helping others and I really want to be a part of this.
“I’m excited to spread the word about the value and service personal travel agents provide.
“Working in news means that I often see or report on how the travel industry is disrupted. During the pandemic it was clear that those who had booked through travel agents had support and advice when they needed it most.
“If I want something done, I get someone with expertise in that field to do it and travel is no different.
“I would never think of booking my holiday independently. I pick up the phone and talk to a travel consultant who I know and trust and who can add value and security.”
