A seasoned traveller is urging Australians to carefully consider the destinations they visit in Vietnam, after sharing a disturbing experience which he believes highlights increased “corruption and dishonesty” in tourist areas across the popular Asian nation.
Gold Coast man Gordon lived in Quy Nhon, a coastal city in the country’s east, a few years back. After reading a Yahoo story of Aussie tourists threatened by a hotel in Thailand after posting a bad review, he recounted how police arrived at his apartment after he left a one-star Google review for a tourist park in 2023, claiming they attempted to intimidate him over his online feedback.
