In 2023, the Philippine tourism industry recorded its highest ever growth, with a 47.9% year-on-year increase to PP2.09 trillion ($35.6 billion) in the Tourism Direct Gross Value Added (TDGVA), according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority. This was the most significant growth in tourism since data collection began in 2000. The industry’s contribution to the country’s GDP also rose from 6.4% in 2022 to 8.6% in 2023. Tourism in the Philippines comprises of accommodation, food and beverage services, transport, travel agencies, entertainment, and other reservation and recreational services.
