A potential industrial action from Aer Lingus pilots could have disastrous effects on the tourism industry, warned hoteliers. Concerns have been raised shortly after bookings from foreign tourists, especially those from the US and Canada, began to decrease only 24 hours after the industrial action was confirmed. There are fears that further cancellities may happen during the peak summer season, which is crucial for the rural tourism sector. If the industrial action proceeds, Aer Lingus may be forced to cancel 10-20% of its flights commencing next week from Wednesday to Sunday.
