The State government has accorded administrative sanction to a ₹2-crore pilgrim tourism circuit project linking St. Thomas Church, Thumboli and Our Lady of Assumption Church, Poomkavu in Alappuzha.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Tourism department said the project was meant to improve basic infrastructure and other facilities at the two churches.
The St. Thomas Church, Thumboli-Our Lady of Assumption Church, Poomkavu pilgrim tourism initiative is part of the ‘Pilgrim Tourism’ project of the Tourism department to preserve age-old places of worship in the State.
Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas said the project would strengthen the pilgrim tourism, an important segment of tourism in the State.
