Jeff Miller, the long-standing CEO and President of Travel Portland, the city’s destination marketing organization, is set to retire in December. Miller has served as the tourism champion for Portland for 19 years, helming the city’s tourism recovery efforts with a team of 70 full- and part-time staff and an annual budget of $30 million. He has also done much to defend Portland’s image in the face of negative media coverage often associated with crime and violence, which has been particularly challenging in the wake of prolonged civil unrest. His departure signals the need for a new tourism advocacy leader for the city.
