Lodging tax collections in September for Cherokee County were up over this time last year, and although the city of Tahlequah’s numbers were down slightly, the reported revenue indicates tourism is doing well in the area.
During the monthly meeting of the Tourism Council Nov. 14, members of the council heard the good news about the latest numbers. Even though slower months are expected ahead, the projected budgets for both the city and county should be easily met, said Nathan Reed, CEO and Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce president.
