tourism in Wisconsin had a record-breaking $23.7 billion economic impact in 2022. Of that, $216 million was spent in Manitowoc.
Visit Manitowoc revealed those numbers during a breakfast held Tuesday morning at The Wisconsin Maritime Museum in conjunction with National Travel and tourism Week.
Mayor Justin Nickels says tourism is a “major staple” of the city’s economic health and success. He tells Seehafer News,
“Manufacturing and Commerce are number one, but a major part of our economy is tourism. Seeing things like the car ferry starting its season sends a “major bolt” of excitement through our small businesses, especially in the downtown and the entire community. tourism is on the rise in Manitowoc.”
tourism Director Courtney Hanson says she’s not “totally shocked” but pleasantly surprised, adding that they (the city) have had to adjust to changing times from the latest in technology to cater to those who visit Manitowoc via the S.S.Badger.
