The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is loosening visa restrictions for Nepalese students in 2016, who have been badly affected by the May earthquake. The changes allows for them to work a larger number of hours whilst still studying and it lets them decrease their course load where necessary. However, this only applies to students who were studying on an F-1 visa in the US on 24th June 2015, after the earthquake that resulted in 8,000 deaths, the displacement of 2.8 million people and a serious hit to the national economy. At this current time, F-1 students in America can work no more than 20 hours a week and the job has to be on campus. There are now over 9,000 F-1 students from Nepal enrolled in American colleges. Under the new websites, Nepalese citizens will be capable of applying for employment.
