American Airlines plans to launch two new routes to Barbados this fall from New York City and Philadelphia hubs.
Two new winter Caribbean routes
American Airlines will expand its Caribbean operations in November from its hubs at John F. Kennedy International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport. American’s most important gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean is from Miami International Airport, but the carrier has several hubs along the East Coast, which also connect to the area. Flights from New York City will be daily, while operations from Philly will take place once weekly.
American will deploy the Boeing 737-800s from New York to Bridgetown Grantley Adams International Airport, capable of carrying 172 passengers on each flight. The 737s are configured in a three-cabin configuration, with 16 seats in First Class, 24 in Main Cabin Extra, and 132 in Main Cabin. Flight AA585 will depart JFK at 07:00 and arrive in Bridgetown at 12:40, while the return leg will depart an hour and ten minutes after landing at 13:50 and land back in New York at 18:05.

The flight from Philadelphia will operate on Saturdays on the Airbus A321 and will also be an early morning departure from the US. Flight AA205 will leave at 08:20 and touch down in Barbados at 13:55. The return leg will also operate as AA205 and will leave BGI at 15:25 and land in Philadelphia at 19:35. The A321s have a capacity for 190 passengers, also in a three-cabin configuration, with 20 seats in First Class, 35 in Main Cabin Extra, and 135 in Main Cabin.

Additional Barbados routes
According to Cirium, American will operate flights from four hubs to Barbados this December. In addition to the new routes, American already flies to Bridgetown from Miami and Charlotte. Its route from Miami International Airport is the busiest of them all, with up to three daily roundtrips, while the route from Charlotte Douglas International Airport will operate daily from December 5.

Between the four routes, American has 302 roundtrip flights scheduled and a total seat offering of 52,088 seats. But American is not the only American carrier operating flights to Barbados; United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and JetBlue all have their own operations. Of the 518 total flights, American has a 58.3 % market share. JetBlue has the second-largest market share with its two routes from Boston Logan International Airport and JFK. On its two routes, JetBlue has 132 roundtrip flights. Delta has the third-largest market share, operating a daily route from Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport and a weekly flight from JFK starting December 21.
