Qatar Airways and Air Algérie have announced a new codeshare partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity for travelers between Algeria, the Middle East, and Asia. The agreement is set to become effective on 21 August 2024, subject to necessary government approvals.
This strategic alliance will allow passengers of both airlines to enjoy more streamlined travel experiences. Customers can book their entire journey on a single ticket, complete with through-checked baggage, simplifying connections between the two carriers’ networks.
Enhanced Global Connectivity
Under the terms of the agreement, Air Algérie will place its ‘AH’ marketing code on Qatar Airways flights operating between Algiers (ALG) and Doha (DOH). This partnership will provide Air Algérie passengers with access to over 65 destinations across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia via Qatar Airways’ hub at Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha.
The collaboration is designed to offer travelers greater choice and flexibility, opening up new travel opportunities and strengthening the commercial ties between the two airlines.
A Strategic Move for Both Airlines
Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Airways, stated that the partnership will significantly expand the airline’s network in Algeria and North Africa. He emphasized that it reinforces Qatar Airways’ presence in Africa and provides more travel options for passengers connecting from its global network of over 170 destinations.
Yacine Benslimane, Chief Executive Officer of Air Algérie, described the agreement as a significant step in the airline’s development strategy. He noted that the partnership will improve Air Algérie’s service offerings by providing customers with access to new destinations in regions not directly served by the Algerian carrier, thereby reinforcing Algiers’ position as a regional travel hub.
