THE NEWS: IHG Hotels & Resorts signed one of Japan’s largest conversion portfolio deals, adding 14 hotels and 1,063 rooms in Kyoto through a partnership with GCP Hospitality, the hospitality arm of Gaw Capital Group.

The 14 properties comprise 12 Garner hotels, one Holiday Inn Express and one unbranded hotel.
All hotels will open in phases over the next 12 months after renovation and rebranding.
The expansion joins IHG’s existing Kyoto sites – Six Senses Kyoto, ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto, Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo and Garner Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma.
New locations sit in primary districts such as Kyoto Station, Shijo and Gojo.
