Sikkim’s Hidden Gem, Sanglaphu Lake Opens To Tourists For The First Time

We have exciting news for travellers planning to visit Sikkim! The list of things to do in Sikkim has a breathtaking new addition — the Sanglaphu Lake. Previously inaccessible, this pristine lake recently opened to the public for the first time ever on April 30.

Nestled amidst Sikkim’s snow-capped peaks in the Mangan district, Sanglaphu Lake is perched at an impressive elevation of 5080 metres (16,667 feet). This high-altitude lake holds immense religious significance for the local people.

Often visited by locals for offering prayers and seeking blessings, Sanglaphu Lake’s inaugural event witnessed a prayer ceremony by the monks of Samten Choling Monastery in Lachung. Members of the revered Lachung Dzomsa, an administrative institution in North Sikkim’s Lachen and Lachung villages, and representatives from the hotel association and cab drivers’ unions also participated.
