TEHRAN – Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts has met with Oman’s Minister of Social Development, emphasizing the importance of enhancing tourism and cultural cooperation between the two nations.
In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Ezzatollah Zarghami on Sunday pointed to the significance of fortifying bilateral relationships between the two countries.
The Iranian minister noted that enhancing tourism should be a priority for both countries, particularly considering the shared maritime boundary which presents a vital opportunity for strengthening social relations.
He also expressed Iran’s readiness to assist in Oman’s restoration projects, reflecting on Iran’s vast experience in historical site restoration.
Zarghami pointed out that Iran leads 300 different fields in handicrafts, which presents substantial opportunities for international exhibitions that could showcase and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of both nations.
“I’m glad for the opportunity to see a Muslim woman being in charge of such a great responsibility,” the Iranian minister stated. “Which should be appreciated by the Islamic world.”
Laila bint Ahmed bin Awad al Najjar, for her part, responded positively, reflecting a shared optimism for enhancing tourism links.
She extended an invitation to Minister Zarghami to attend an upcoming tourism conference, which will also see participation from the Omani Minister of Tourism.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Zarghami highlighted Iran’s tourism as a broad sector, noting that there are 30 tourism sectors within the country.
He revealed that over 30% of Omani tourists traveling to Iran are seeking health services, underscoring the sector’s significant role in bilateral exchanges.
