The heritage-listed Mayfair Hotel in Adelaide will operate under IHG management before reopening as Kimpton Mayfair Adelaide in late 2026 following refurbishment
IHG Hotels & Resorts will rebrand the Mayfair Hotel in Adelaide, Australia, after signing a management agreement with the property’s owner, Adabco Hotels. The hotel is set to officially become Kimpton Adelaide in early 2025.
The introduction of the Kimpton brand to Adelaide marks a continuation of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle growth in the region. This will be the second Kimpton hotel in Australia, following the successful launch of Kimpton Margot Sydney.
The hotel will continue to operate as the Mayfair Hotel while it undergoes a refurbishment to align with the globally recognized Kimpton brand identity.
Located in the heritage-listed Colonial Mutual Life building in Adelaide’s central business district, the 170-room hotel will see a comprehensive redesign of its guestrooms and public spaces.
The transformation will also extend to the hotel’s food and beverage offerings. Its current outlets, which include the HENNESSY rooftop bar, THE DEN café, and the MAYflower Restaurant, will all be updated as part of the rebranding initiative.
Matt Tripolone, IHG’s Managing Director for Australasia & Pacific, noted that the Kimpton brand has been positively received in the Australian market and expressed excitement about its expansion into Adelaide. He emphasized the Mayfair’s strong reputation as a foundation for the new Kimpton property.
Camillo and Annalisa Fanelli, directors of Adabco Hotels, stated that Kimpton is an ideal brand for the hotel and the vibrant Adelaide market. They expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with IHG and the future of the property. With this addition, IHG’s portfolio in Adelaide includes 11 open and pipeline hotels across six different brands.
