OpenTravel Alliance Hosts Successful Annual Advisory Forum in Orlando
The OpenTravel Alliance, the not-for-profit organization responsible for developing and maintaining interoperability for disparate systems in all verticals of the travel industry, held its annual Advisory Forum at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, FL, from May 16 – 19, 2016.
Forum Highlights and Key Initiatives
The forum featured several major components designed to advance the organization’s mission and engage its membership. The centerpiece was the reveal of the OpenTravel 2.0 object model solution, the next generation of open source messaging for consumer direct bookings that was released in March 2016. This technology was presented through keynote sessions and represented a significant advancement in the organization’s interoperability efforts.
The 2.0 object model solution was showcased through an interactive format that allowed participants direct experience with the technology. This hands-on approach was part of the organization’s commitment to educating members about new developments and capabilities.

The hackathon competition recognized outstanding contributions and technical achievement. Dianne Griffin from Marriott International, Inc., won individual recognition at the event. A team also won recognition, which included Paul Byrne of OpenJaw Technologies, a Travelsky Company, and Jim Jandrew of Walt Disney.
