Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism has introduced new mandatory procedures for lodging establishments through a new ordinance. The regulation is designed to increase transparency and provide consumers with essential information about the legal and quality status of accommodations.
The core requirement of the new ordinance mandates that all lodging establishments in Brazil must prominently display their registration number from the Registry of Tourism Service Providers, Individuals, and Establishments (Cadastur).
In addition to the Cadastur number, establishments that are classified under the Star Rating System (SBClass) must also display their official classification.
This information must be made clearly visible to the public in multiple locations. The rules specify that the registration number and classification must be shown on the establishment’s official website, its social media profiles, and in a visible place at the entrance of the physical property.
The new regulation, Ordinance No. 28/2025, was published on 15 May 2024, and its requirements will officially come into force 90 days after this date.
